# Getting 2022 started!
February 27, 2022
It was a quiet Sunday morning. A fresh layer of snow had recently fallen. It’s 8AM, we grabbed the car keys, a warm jacket and headed out the door. The car, full tank, all clean, ready for the day. We jumped on the highway, driving towards Audi Brampton and immediately noticed that it was a rare opportunity where we didn’t have to share. Not a bad thing. It would be an easy, relaxing drive. The dealership was open just for us. A big thank you to those who made this possible, Brad and Steve from Audi Brampton and our very own Bruce.
Heading through the front door we immediately recognized some familiar faces, and took note of some fresh ones as well. After welcoming everyone, we enjoyed complimentary coffee and tea, chatted, checked out the latest offerings from Audi on display as well as some cool accessories. Its’ 10AM time to get the show on the road. After a short driver’s meeting, reinforcing some safety aspects and proper behaviour, we headed to our cars.
The symphony of horse power sounded so good, as we were cueing up. Everyone anxious to start. We headed north on highway 10 and made a left on Forks of the Credit Road. The fun was about to begin. The road was beautiful, with lots of turns, like all passionate drivers like us enjoy. (The scenery wasn’t bad either) We drove around Orangeville choosing to stay out in the rolling hills covered in a pristine white blanket. After a short stop for some pictures, the fun continued with more twisties. In the areas with open fields the blowing snow made some of the road sections a little slippery but it wasn’t anything that would stop Quattro power. A fun, tight, uphill left curve made me miss the next turn, forcing me to make a last second U-turn to get back on route. Others, at the end of the group, unfortunately didn’t make the course correction and did the loop in reverse, meeting up with us a few kilometers after.
As the twisties ended, it was time to go back. We headed south towards Orangeville and our pending lunch reservation at Fionn MacCools. The tables were ready and waiting for us. We shared stories from the event, talked about cars and enjoyed some delicious food. One of the most gratifying parts of the event was the number of women participating, and not just from behind the wheel, but also in technical conversations. I was pleasantly surprised that even in this group of gear heads there were a couple ladies that stood out in their technical knowledge. You know who you are. :)
It was great seeing you all again and happy to see some new faces.
Stay tuned for our next cruise!
